What does science say?
There isn't much medical research on this berry from the southern mountain valley regions of Chile. As its supply has been limited, research scientists have not yet undertaken in-depth studies.

- very little medical research evidence for potential health benefits
- reputation is not established in mass markets to create excitement for products made from macqui
